Dr. Murtaza Jafferji

Dr. Murtaza Jafferji (Dr. J) has been serving patients across the Greater Toronto Area since 2007. After completing his undergraduate studies at McMaster University, he earned his Doctor of Optometry degree from the State University of New York, where he also completed an externship in ocular disease.

Born and raised in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania, Dr. J’s passion for vision care was sparked early while volunteering at a Lions Club Eye Camp in a remote village. That formative experience inspired a lifelong commitment to eye health and patient-centered care.

Beyond the clinic, Dr. J is an active volunteer, raising funds for the Heart and Stroke Foundation and participating in the Ride for Heart along the Gardiner and Highway 404. His personal goals include completing the Cure for Cancer Ride to Niagara.

A lifelong Boy Scout, Dr. J has always embraced physical activity and the outdoors. He enjoys woodworking, photography, cooking, and fashion design. Fluent in English, Hindi, Urdu, Panjabi, Gujrati, and Swahili, he connects with patients and communities across diverse backgrounds. Together with his wife, he is a proud parent of two young sons. His guiding principle—to treat every patient the way he would want to be treated—shapes his approach to care.

Professionally, Dr. J is dedicated to preventative eye care, with a special focus on lid wellness and dry eye education. He is also the inventor of LidGenie™️, an innovative at-home eyelid care device designed to make daily lid hygiene simple and effective.

Dr. Alissa Athanasakos

After graduating with from York University with her Bachelor of Science, Dr. Alissa Athanasakos obtained her Doctor of Optometry from the Michigan College of Optometry. Dr. Athanasakos is a member of the Ontario College of Optometrists.

Dr. Athanasakos completed clinical rotations with an emphasis on ocular disease. Her externships experience included a private practice in rural Ontario, the Wyoming Veteran Affairs Hospital and the Great Lakes Bay Health Centers in Michigan.

Accepting and providing eye care to all ages, Dr. Athanasakos is particularly interested in ocular disease, myopia control, dry eye management and contact lenses. She strives to create an approachable, and educational environment for her patients

Outside of the office, Dr. Athanasakos enjoys spending time outdoors, whether it’s hiking, camping or swimming. She enjoys travelling and spending time with family and friends.
